Main Characteristics:
- Habit: Evergreen shrub or small tree with compact, spreading or prostrate growth; commonly used for ornamental purposes or in rock gardens.
- Foliage: Dark green needles, rigid, 3–7 cm long, arranged in pairs (fascicles of two).
- Bark: Dark and fissured on mature specimens.
Cultivation and Care:
- Exposure: Full sun; tolerant of cold and strong winds.
- Soil: Prefers well-drained soils, even poor or rocky ones.
- Hardiness: Very resistant to drought and low temperatures.
- Uses: Commonly used for slope stabilization, in alpine gardens, and for bonsai.
